Seattle Dog Grooming FAQs
Pricing varies by location. Here is an overview of the pricings at all locations.Â
Pricing depends on your dog’s size, coat type, and the specific services you choose. Each location has its own price guide, and our team will give you a clear estimate at check-in. If we expect extra time for de-matting or behavior, we’ll talk about it up front so there are no surprises.
In Seattle it is customary to tip somewhere between 15-25%. At all of our locations we take tips either via credit card or cash. Groomers always appreciate any cash tips as they get to collect it immediatly and usually we have them come to the front to receive it personally.
Yes. If you’re comparing options for dog grooming Seattle WA, feel free to call or message us and we’ll walk through how pricing works. When you arrive, we’ll weigh your dog and confirm the final estimate before we start
We use fear-free handling, patience, and realistic expectations. That might mean shorter sessions, slower introductions to equipment, or a few “happy visits” before a full groom. Our priority is safety and trust—not forcing a perfect haircut on the first try
We’ll assess your dog’s coat and skin at check-in and explain what we see. In some cases, safely removing mats or dealing with damaged coat means going shorter than you’d like. We’ll talk about why we recommend a certain approach and how to prevent the same issues between dog grooming in Seattle appointments.
If we see anything that needs your vet’s attention, we’ll let you know so you can follow up.
Currently, only our Admiral location offers Weekend Grooming on Saturdays. Other location can offer grooming in extended hours during the week.
Availability varies by site, and demand for dog grooming Seattle is high—especially around holidays—so we recommend booking in advance. You can check real-time availability through our online booking or by contacting the location closest to you
Yes. We use professional-grade shampoos, conditioners, and coat-care products formulated for pets. We have options for sensitive skin and allergies, and if your dog has a prescription shampoo from your vet, you’re welcome to bring it—we’ll use it during the bath
Absolutely. At our SoDo, Admiral, and SLU locations, you can combine daycare or boarding with dog grooming in Seattle so your pup goes home both tired and freshly groomed.
This is popular for longer boarding stays or busy weeks
Dog grooming is the professional care of a dog’s coat, skin, nails, ears, and overall hygiene. It goes beyond looks and helps prevent matting, skin irritation, overgrown nails, and hidden health issues. Grooming also helps dogs feel more comfortable and relaxed, especially when done regularly. You can also visit our Dogcity page to learn about these services at DogCity grooming location
A full dog grooming service typically includes a bath, blow-dry, brushing, haircut or trim, nail trimming, ear cleaning, gland checks, and a light hygiene tidy. Some grooms may also include de-shedding, depending on the dog’s coat and needs. Services are always adjusted for coat type, size, and temperament. Details vary by location, so check our SoDo, Delridge or SLU location for details.
The 7-second rule refers to giving a dog a short pause to process handling or new sensations before continuing. Groomers use this time to read body language, reduce stress, and decide whether to proceed, pause, or redirect. This helps prevent fear responses and builds trust during grooming sessions. You’ll see this approach in action at both Seattle Canine Club grooming and DogCity grooming services
A typical groom starts with a hands-on assessment, followed by bathing, drying, brushing, trimming or styling, nail care, and finishing touches. Throughout the process, groomers monitor stress levels and take breaks as needed. The exact order may change based on coat type and behavior.
Grooming takes time because it’s a detailed, step-by-step process, not a rush job. Drying alone can take 30–60 minutes, especially for thick or double coats. Breaks, safety checks, and careful styling all add time but protect your dog’s comfort and well-being. This is also a reflection of the price for grooming a dog.
Most dog grooms take between 2 and 4 hours, depending on size, coat condition, and behavior. Small short-coat dogs are usually quicker, while large, matted, or curly-coat dogs take longer. First-time grooms may also take extra time to help dogs adjust calmly.
Seattle Canine Club still does not have mobile grooming serivces, however we offer transport services in Seattle if convenience is what you need. We also prepared a list of the top mobile grooming offerings in Seattle
